Want to save money and help the environment at the same time? If so, check out Energy Smart Colorado which offers owners of single-family homes, two-flats and individually-metered condos, apartments and town homes rebates (read: FREE MONEY!) on a wide range of energy-saving improvements such as:
- Installing a new furnace or boiler
- Installing a new hot water heater or tankless water system
- Adding a programmable thermostat
- Putting insulation in your attic
- Insulating your pipes
- Sealing duct work
For instance, customers who participate in the ‘Colorado Tax Credits & Rebates: Heat Pump Incentives’ can get a sales tax exemption for heat pumps and water heaters.
They also offer the following Federal Rebates:
- energy audits (up to $150 credit)
- air sealing and insulation
- heat pumps (up to $2,000 credit)
- heat pump water heaters (up to $2,000 credit)
- electric panel upgrades
- energy-efficient HVAC systems
- energy-efficient windows and doors ($500 total for all exterior doors)
A few things to note: New equipment must be installed and the old equipment must be removed. Only new products that meet the energy-efficiency specifications listed on the residential application qualify. Rebates may not exceed the project cost.
